Apple Pear Jam

Pears, Pears, Pears. Everywhere Pears.

My grandmother has a huge pear tree and keeps sending me pears by the bucket loads. I have canned more than 30 jars, made two rounds of pear jelly and now have created Apple Pear Jam. It's pretty yummy!!

Ingredients you will need:

4 cups pears (peeled, sliced, and cored)
4 cups apples (peeled, sliced and cored)
1 cup water
2 cups brown sugar
2 cups white sugar
4 tsp. lemon juice
2 tsp. nutmeg

Put pears, apples and water in a large saucepan. Cook on medium heat until apples and pears are soft, stirring occasionally. Put in blender and blend until smooth or just use your hand mixer and blend in saucepan. Pour in both sugars, lemon juice and nutmeg. Continue cooking for another 30 minutes. Stir regularly. Pour into jelly jars and seal. Enjoy all winter long. Jams and jellies are great Christmas presents too.
